The new year has come to an end in 2016. "Heaven's Gate will open!" It is a New Year's motto that we all carry in our hearts. I hope that the precious history of the opening of the sky will appear for this year.
On the river Gebal God opened the door of heaven before Ezekiel (Ezek 1: 1). It was in the ninth year of the ninth year of the coming of Babylon in 597 B.C., when Jehoiakin the king of Judah and ten thousand Jews of Ezekiel were brought to Babylon (1: 2). Here the Gebal River is the name of the Grand Canal connecting the Euphrates and Tigris rivers of Babylon. For the prisoners such as Ezekiel, the Gebal River is a place where one is indeed (Psalm 137). But the door of heaven was opened before Ezeki, who was there. How did this mystical experience?
God calls Ezekiel the unique title of 'Son of Man'. You use it more than 90 times, not once. Later, however, Jesus self-identifies himself as a "Son of Man." The Lord's goal was to "glorify God" (John 17: 4). The opening of the heavens was at the beginning of this coincidental life of Jesus (Mark 1: 9-10), in the middle of public affairs (Matthew 17: 5), and at the end of public affairs (Acts 1:11). Ezekiel is called the same title 'Son of Man'. This implies that he lived like Jesus. So God opened the door to Him like Jesus. Only Ezekiel was the only one who saw the door of the sky at the river of that time (Ezekiel 1: 1, 3, 4)
Ezekiel wanted to live as a 'little Jesus' in his life. Even though he was a captive, a stranger away from his homeland, a desperate day when he could not have any hope, he was not frustrated. I trusted God. I did my best in 'what the Father has commanded me to do' (John 17: 4). I lived focused on the glory of God. This is why heaven's door was opened to him.
That day Ezekiel saw the glory of the rainbow (Gen. 9:13). It is a promise not to curse again. Going one step further, he experiences the 'illusion of dry bones' (Ezekiel 37:10). When I obeyed the Word, I saw a message that people like 'dead bones' would taste the miracle of being a great army.
Dear friends! Are you now in the same position as the captive Ezekiel of the river of Babylon Gebal? Do not give up, live as a 'little Jesus' in the phenomenon of life until you are called 'Son of Man'. Obey the Word. Finally, the heavens will open. When the skies open, a miracle happens when the 'dry bones' become 'big armies'. When the heavens are opened, 'the report of the heavens' will be poured out (Deuteronomy 28:12). I can not overcome the reality of 'Gubal River' by my own strength. Only if the heavenly door is opened. We are eagerly awaiting this amazing spiritual experience to take place in our lives in 2016.
